The FidoNet TWIT Conference Rules
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the official rules of the TWIT Echo, and
constitute the file TWIT.RUL.
This is the TWIT Echo. The purpose of the Echo is to
provide a place to discuss twits in the network. A twit, for
the purpose of this conference, is any individual who has become
excessively annoying to another individual in the network.
Discussions relevant for discussion include (but are not
neccessarily limited to) stories of personal experiences with
network twits, discussion of policy to help deal with the
problem of network twits, discussion of legal matters where
network twits are involved, discussions with network twits that
come into this conference, and discussions of the exuberent
claims of network twits.
This is a discussional Echo with a few rules. Those few rules
are:
1. Stay on-topic. All off topic posts will be dealt with by the
Moderators. Do not respond for them. If you feel a Moderator
is not being unfair, take it to netmail. We as Moderators
strive to be fair and any complaint about our methods of
moderation will be addressed in netmail. We designed this echo
for you the user and we want to do our best to be fair to you.
2. No bashing of network twits. This echo allows discussion, but
bashing is considered excessively annoying, even for this echo.
If you feel you must bash someone, take it to netmail, or to
another echo where that kind of post is welcomed. Bashing
includes any name calling, or comments like "This person is a
liar". Comments like, "This person is lying, and here is
why..." are acceptable.
3. No profanity allowed, if you must use that type of language,
take it somewhere where it will be welcomed, and that somewhere
is not here.
4. No personal attacks, name-calling, slurs or innuendo. Stick
to issues not personalities. It is very possible, in fact
probable that in a group of people, several will have
irreconcilibile differences of opinion, and that in those cases,
we must agree to disagree, and then drop the discussion between
us in order to not escalate into a flame war. It is possible to
disagree, but let us not become disagreeable.
5. Following are some general rules that apply to MOST if not all
echomail conferences:
a. No private flagged messages in this conference.
b. Avoid excessive quoting for short responses.
c. The Moderators will do the Moderating.
d. No ANSI or high ASCII characters allowed.
e. Discussion of the conference rules is off topic. Your
input is valued toward future modifications of the rules
by the moderators, but keep your suggestions/comments
in netmail and out of the conference.
f. You must use your real name. Aliases can be used ONLY
by Fidonet SysOps ONLY if their alias is listed in the
Nodelist in place of their real name. No exceptions.
If you use an alias as a logon name, you must place
your REAL NAME at the bottom of the message.
g. No advertisements or announcements are allowed in the
conference without prior moderator approval.
h. Message length should not exceed 90 lines (14K) as some
mail software chokes on longer messages.
i. No encrypted or coded mail in this conference.
j. Cross-posting of messages from this echo are the sole
responsibility of the individual cross-posting them.
k. Cross-posting of messages from other echoes must be on
topic for this conference, and must provide the name of
the original poster and the original echo it was posted
in. No exceptions.
l. The Moderator's decisions are final. Participation in
this echo is subject to your approval of the rules. By
posting in this conference, you agree to abide by the
rules and obey any and all moderator decisions.
6. Humor makes the world go 'round, so as long as it does not get
out of hand, feel free to joke a bit. The Moderators will
decide when it has gone too far.
7. Discussion of lawsuits pending are off-topic. For the purpose
of this conference a pending lawsuit is any lawsuit where formal
notices to appear have been issued. Case history of past
lawsuits are ok, provided they are applicable to the topic of
the conference. Threats of lawsuits are off-topic and should be
taken to netmail or to appropriate legal officials.
The Moderators are Dave Wright & Rick Lithgow.
